Jon Colatrella, PE, CEM, CBCP
Executive Director, MEP/FP Group

With more than 15 years of experience, Jon leads the MEP/FP Group at HLZA. He directs the design, installation, and investigation of all MEP/FP projects. He has also served as project engineer for major system upgrades, capital improvements, and individual component replacements in residential and commercial building.

Jon directed the reconstruction effort of the main building systems at 88 Greenwich Street, a 452-unit residential and commercial building in the Financial District. After severe damages caused by Hurricane Sandy, our team removed two floors of mechanical equipment and reconfigured the design to ensure a more resilient system. Jon also completed a trigeneration plant which generates combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) in a single piece of equipment. Understanding that no two buildings are identical, Jon and his team implement customized systems that meet specific goals by paying attention to individual nuances in each project.

Jon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, New Jersey and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York. Additionally, Jon is a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Business Continuity Professional.
