Overview
HLZAE works closely with building owners, management companies, New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) and New York State’s Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to protect & revitalize New York City’s structures of historical significance.
Our team assesses a building’s character defining features and evaluates its state of deterioration. We look at contributing factors and past repair history to compile a suitable scope of work. In addition to the historic and structural integrity of a building, the scope of work also takes into consideration the financial planning of the project.
Our many years of experience in historic preservation allow us to evaluate the alternatives for traditional versus contemporary repair techniques and advise our clients on decisions subject to the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s requirements.
HLZAE’s knowledge of historic assembly and technique allows us to pre-qualify contractors and oversee their work during construction. At HLZAE, we integrate our inspection, design, and construction services to prolong the lifespan of buildings.
