Project Overview

Built in 1910, 10 East 73rd Street is a 5-story Townhouse composed of limestone and brick masonry in Lenox Hill. HLZAE’s work consisted of addressing the terrace limestone balustrades, which were cracked and spalled. We also addressed the brick parapet, which observed to be shifting. With the owner’s intention of selling the property, our objective was to ensure the building’s safety as well as making it visually appealing for potential buyers.

For this project, emergency IRA inspections were required, which included scoping the building and netting the brick parapet for pedestrian protection. Monthly follow up structural inspections were implemented to ensure the parapet didn’t continue to shift. We also provided a full scope of work and filed with the LPC and DOD. HLZAE oversaw construction and encountered an additional structural issue with the limestone parapet, but we were able to resolve it by salvaging the limestone units and pinning all the units together.
