Façade and Roof Parapet Restoration
Howard L. Zimmerman Architects, P.C. was retained by the Board of Directors at Turtle Bay Towers, a residential building in Midtown Manhattan. The project required complete exterior façade restoration and construction work within occupied areas.

Complete exterior façade restoration

Replacement of integrated greenhouse structures with high performance thermal enclosures |

Replacement of all terraced roofs |

Extensive brick masonry repair and reinforcement of structural steel frame

Parapet wall replacement

Because the areas under greenhouses were occupied interior spaces, it was especially difficult to scaffold and rig the exterior of the building to perform the work
Project Challenges included customizing a special "permanent scaffolding system" to overcome the difficult problems of accessing the building façade in the future. This system is comprised of new permanent attachment points that will permit temporary scaffolding beams a means of connecting back to the structural steel frame of the building.
